Magenta (Matriarch)
Magenta (Matriarch) was created in 2019 as part of the LIGHTWORKER series which was first debuted at Melanie Carr Gallery in Essex, CT. LIGHTWORKER was a series dedicated to transforming grief and pain into visual embodiments of recovery and healing. This piece was made by a repetitive physical gesture where my hands would start in child's pose posture and move up and down the canvas in a form of meditation and healing. This magenta painting in particular was a meditation on a feeling of bliss and joy especially in the context of womanhood. The dimensions are 18x24 inches and can be placed on your wall framed or unframed, both wonderful options. This painting and all those in the series act as a reminder that in time, all of our suffering turns into strength, dignity and empathy.
